This month instead of going out of town for our monthly getaway, we decided to keep it local. Even though we live only a few miles from the American River, we find ourselves rarely going there. We drive over it all the time and earlier in the week the kids made lots of comments about it as we were on our way somewhere else. So after work on Friday we packed a picnic dinner and headed out to the river. The kids loved it!!! During dinner they got excited about all the people riding their bikes on the bike trail and would wave to them as they went by.
After we ate, we walked along the river and found a good spot to throw rocks and relax and wade in the water.
Near by was a walking bridge that people often fish from. There was a group of people who were jumping off of it and the kids (mostly Sean) thought it was soooo cool! After the river we stopped off at Big Spoon and enjoyed some frozen yogurt. YUM! Anyway, we had a great time and decided we definitely need to go back.
